Andy is a seasoned Chemical Industry professional with 35 years of experience in Senior Management, predominantly in Production/Operations, as well as complementary roles.  With a proven track record of delivering superior performance, through his effective leadership, Andy has turned around underperforming plants and processes, and driving technical and organizational improvements – all whilst maintaining or enhancing team involvement and morale.  As an expert in Lean manufacturing and 6sigma, with extensive experience and knowledge of batch reactions Andy’s focus on debottlenecking, increasing capacity, and enhancing throughput rates – always with deep and genuine engagement of operator teams and all other stakeholders – has delivered outstanding improvement in all KPIs.

As well as being a professionally qualified coach, Andy is also an accredited partner of Blue4 International; a leading behavior-based performance management company, providing top-notch Leadership Development.   Based on 4 decades of statistically validated and applied research, those specific Leadership Behaviors which create a climate for enhanced team performance have been identified and defined – a range of accurate and reliable psychometric tools have been developed, along with tailorable development interventions (workshops, coaching, etc.) centered on establishing ‘high-frequency habits’ of these ‘Blue4’ behaviors.

A few key achievements:

Increased plant capacity by 70% through a relentless improvement focus over several years, that resulted in numerous production records, and removed the need for additional capital investment.

Reduced land fill waste by 10,000 tonnes per annum ($3mio), by challenging the status quo, and recycling the waste stream back into the process with no detriment to quality.

Delivered zero non-conforming inventory, record shipments of rail and trucks, and zero voluntary turnover for 1 year through an employee engagement process, creating a psychologically safe environment that gave every person a voice.

Achieved increased output of 55% in the first week of focusing on a process, through process flow study, and instruction to shift teams on operating instructions focused on maintaining flow through the bottleneck, with the engagement and commitment of the team
