Employment & Labor Regulation Technical Advisory Committee (ELR-TAC) Interest Meeting

Description

As employment and workplace policy issues continue to evolve rapidly at both the state and federal levels, the VMA is exploring the creation of a new standing Employment & Labor Regulation Technical Advisory Committee (ELR-TAC) focused on legislative, regulatory, legal, and compliance developments affecting Virginia employers.

To discuss member interest, structure, and potential priorities for the group, the VMA will host an inaugural ELR-TAC interest meeting on Monday, June 8, at 10:30 AM.

This effort builds on the success of our ad hoc PFML-TAC during the 2026 legislative session, in which coordinated member engagement, technical analysis, and advocacy helped secure several substantial amendments that made the legislation more workable for Virginia employers. 

Topics expected to be discussed during this initial meeting include: 

• The proposed mission and scope of the ELR-TAC 
• Potential committee structure and participation 
• Legislative and regulatory priorities, including issues such as paid family and medical leave, paid sick leave, workplace mandates, workplace safety, and heat illness prevention regulations, and related compliance issues
• Opportunities for coordinated advocacy, legal analysis, and member collaboration 
• Use of TAC resources to support outside lobbying and employment/labor counsel engagement

This meeting is intended as an exploratory and organizational discussion for prospective participants interested in helping shape the direction and structure of the proposed TAC.
