2025 Virginia Air Permitting (VAP) Certificate Workshop

Description

Join us on May 14 & 15 for a program designed for environmental professionals seeking to deepen their Virginia air permitting knowledge. This workshop will feature 13.5 contact hours of continuing education with hands-on learning, led by experts from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and supported by industry collaboration.

Presentations will be followed by group breakout sessions, during which participants will apply what they’ve learned to real-world scenarios. After each breakout, DEQ instructors will review the examples as a group, reinforcing the material and providing a comprehensive learning experience.

  • Virginia's Minor New Source Review Permit Program
  • Article 6: Applicability, Exemptions, & Calculations
  • Best Available Control Technology (BACT)
  • Hazardous Air Pollutants vs. Air Toxics 
  • Environmental Justice (EJ), Public Participation, & Permit Process Timing
  • Permitting Emergency & Non-Emergency Generators
  • Tips on Filing an Air Permit Application

Certification & CE Credits
At the end of the workshop, all participants will receive a VAP Certificate of Participation. If participants choose to take the online test, and pass with a score of 80 or better, they will be issued a VAP Certification jointly by DEQ and the Virginia Manufacturers Association’s Manufacturing Skills Institute (MSI) showing their mastery of the topics. CLE credits are pending approval for legal professionals.
